John Browne – age 25 – Lieutenant (149523) 5th Battalion, Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regiment)
John was commissioned in September 1940. (Source: London Gazette 27/9/1940 p.5775)
The 5th Highland Light Infantry were part of the 52nd (Lowland) Division and landed in Belgium in October 1944, taking part in the capture of the Dutch island of Walcheren. It then fought through Southern Holland and into Germany.
