John Barbour Wylie – age 21 – Third Officer, S.S. Southern Empress (Leith) Merchant Navy.

The whaling factory ship “Southern Empress” was sailing from New York to Glasgow with a cargo of fuel oil and a deck cargo of 21 Landing Craft when she was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-221. (Source: uboat.net)
