John Bell Barclay – age 21 – Sergeant/Pilot (748707) 50 Squadron, Bomber Command, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.

John's Hampden bomber took off from a forward base at RAF St. Eval in Cornwall to drop mines in the Girond Estuary but crashed near Pointe de la Chambrette, Aquitaine. (Source aircrewremembered.com)

Son of Peter and Mary Ann Barclay of 27 Barnton Street, Carntyne, Glasgow E2.
