James Sutherland Cant – age 23 – Flying Officer/Pilot (128923) 640 Squadron, Bomber Command, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.
James was commissioned from Aircraftman (1341371) in September 1942 and promoted to F/O in March 1943. His Halifax bomber took off from RAF Leconfield in Yorkshire for a raid on Leipzig but crashed at Stendal. James was buried in Gohre, Germany but was re-interred in Berlin in May 1947.
