Daniel Cameron Garrity – age 25 – Sergeant (1061251) 144 Squadron, Coastal Command, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.

Daniel was an air gunner on his Hampden torpedo bomber which took off from RAF Sumburgh in Shetland. It was one of 32 Hampdens bound for Murmansk in Northern Russia to protect Artic convoys. The aircraft was attacked and damaged by German fighters from Petsamo in Finland and it crashed in the Kola Peninsula. (Source: aircrewremembered.com and Wikipedia – Operation Orator)
