Robert McAlpine – age 27 – Sergeant (2935070) 6th Battalion, Green Howards (Yorkshire Regiment)
The 6th Green Howards had landed at Normandy on D-Day 6 June 1944 but by mid- July were being held near Caen. Robert was killed near the village of La Belle Epine and was buried there but was re-interred in Hottot-les-Bagues in February 1945. (Source: Wikipedia and CWGC)
