Leon Leparquois McGregor – age 25 – Gunner (964964) 4 Survey Regiment, Royal Artillery.

In 1921 artillery survey responsibilities, which included sound ranging and flash spotting as well as ‘pure’ survey, were transferred to the Royal Artillery. Regular and territorial artillery survey companies were created and at the outbreak of war in 1939 these companies expanded and mobilised as survey regiments. (Source: tripod.com)

Leon graduated with an M.A. degree from Glasgow University in 1939.
