Arnold was commissioned from Sergeant (1553585) in October 1943. His Lancaster bomber took off from RAF East Kirby in Lincolnshire on a training flight but crashed at Enderby, Leicestershire. (Source: London Gazette 26/11/1943 p.5247 and aircrewremembered.com)
