John Telfer West – age 21 – Sapper (1896148) 7 Field Company, Royal Engineers.

The 4th Infantry Division crossed to France to join the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) at the end of September 1939 and at once moved up to the French frontier. It took part in the advance into Belgium, and was then pushed back with the rest of the BEF to Dunkirk. (Source: Wikipedia)
