David Laing Williams, Distinguished Flying Cross – age 23 – Flight Lieutenant/Navigator (129004) 83 Squadron, Bomber Command, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.

David was commissioned from Sergeant (1101206) in August 1942. He was a Pilot Officer in 207 Squadron at RAF Langar in Nottinghamshire when he was awarded his DFC and he was promoted to Flight Lieutenant in February 1943. David's Lancaster bomber took off from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire for a raid on Schweinfurt but crashed at Goldscheuer. David was buried there but was re-interred in Durnbach in September 1948.
